RE7 VR

by
Tonight I played the Resident Evil 7 Beginning Hour teaser in VR.

WOW.

I thought the game was quite frightening enough in the dark as it was. THIS is the future. However the 90 degree camera turn wasn't fast enough (the default I guess to reduce eye strain) and my first play through of the Midnight version I was killed by the BOW.

SCARED THE SHIT OUT OF ME.

My second play through I was at least prepared. I tweaked the settings which really helped in a lot of the movement BUT it tired my eyes much quicker and even though the turning was smoother when I changed the camera turn - it caused me a minor headache, BUT was fucking worth it. I survived getting the TRUE ENDING.

I recorded a video clip of the second play through but the same experience just cannot be recorded. IT REALLY must be experienced. The 3D and the detail - HOLY SHIT. Definitely not for children (not just the headache factor) as this is TRUE horror. Parts that I had played not in VR (I had only completed the Twilight version before tonight) had surprised me but not actually made me feel like I WAS the unnamed character of the teaser.

I really don't know how to explain it much better. Any YouTube upload or video on the RE7 VR experience just cannot do justice to the actual experience of being in it.

My eyes may hurt a bit but THAT was an experience. I have been impressed by gaming technology the last several years and this just blew me away.

This was my second encounter with VR. My first was at the state fair getting a virtual test drive of a car. I said when I saw that - WOW. Now a little over a year later I have seen it at an even crazier place progress than I had a year ago.

DEFINITELY GOING TO BUY RE7 in January.

Honestly after 6 (even though it was a fun game) I lost faith in the franchise. 6 story wise was a JOKE. It had grown not just out of hand but what made the games special were long gone. It was Evil of Duty: Resident Zombie Call. Although 6 was fun - what separated it from just a round of Zombies in BO2 or Exo Zombies in AW? Those in my opinion at least didn't run around pretending to be "horror" they were just zombie bonus content or FPS DLC with zombies. Also - they didn't have a roid rage ruined Redfield, a clown-y Kennedy and the son of Victor Newman (Muller).

Anyway - wicked awesome game! I am fucking EXCITED for its release!!!

I love the classics. I was playing some Spyro the other day. Atari is wicked - my mom had a 2700 but unfortunately it was lost years ago. I managed to hold on to the NES though - huge fan of Castlevania! Props to the comment pic with Captain Caveman! :D Made my day!

My Buddy had a PS3. The Games were too complex for us to have any fun. He traded it to a dude for a Mint-in-Box PS2,Auto Driving set-up,Aircraft Flight Controller and over 50 Games...When he passed away last year his Nephew traded all of it to another Gamer for a PS3.

Ah man! Sorry to hear about your bud! :/

That actually sounded like a pretty wicked trade. Games are fairly complex these days even I admit it but the curiosities keep me gaming thinking what will or could come next. I've seen Baer's great brown Odyssey in action and sometimes I like to find clips of...

In 1999 I was escorted 'backstage' at EPCOT's Communicore to scope-out some Virtual Reality Goggles. I took a pass on the Games and opted for a Tour of Rome & Vatican City...Too Cool.

That is Awesome! VR has really come a long way - I never got to experience it that early on in the field and it is still only beginning now, but I can only imagine what the first sets would have been like.

I remember being blown-away by the Perspective when in a Cathedral, the Coliseum or some other sort of large, enclosed space.
